Shatila Bakery

Salams and hi everyone!  Sorry this is up kind of late... I've been so busy prepping for Sudan.  I'm leaving Monday night Insha Allah and I will be there for the entire month of Ramadan.  Anyways, this post is about Shatila Bakery...

Shatila Bakery is located in Dearborn, Michigan... land of the Arabs!  The majority of the people living in Dearborn are Muslims and it really is a different world.  As you drive through the streets, you see all the store signs are in Arabic and you get a sense of nostalgia.  Dearborn is 2 hours away from me so its not that bad of a drive... plus, call me crazy, but I love driving... something about being out on the open road is so peaceful and serene.

Shatila Bakery is well known for its Arabic pastries... and ICE CREAM!  Shatila has the BEST ice cream I have ever tasted, and that's saying a lot!  They also sell a wide arrangement of French Pastries that are beyond delicious.  For some reason, this bakery reminds me a lot of Lebanon... I'm thinking the owners are probably Lebanese, which would explain why the sweets are so scrumptious!

If you are close to Dearborn, than you MUST go to Shatila and try out the pastries, you will love it!  Check out my Vlog where I show you the inside and buy some Arabic pastries... sorry the last bit of my head is chopped off, I clearly still don't know how to film -_-

Recipe: Easy Samboxas & Samosas

This video is kind of rough... forgive me!  This was the first time filming with that camera in the kitchen and it gets a little shaky.  Just a FYI you might get dizzy lol.

Samboxas, Samosas... whatever you call them, everyone loves them.  My samboxas recipe is very easy and delicious.  A lot of people make Samboxas with parsley and ground beef but I personally prefer the carrot/onion/ground beef mixture much better.  In the end, there are no rules as to what you can stuff them with... so use your imagination!

Samboxas/Samosas Ingredients:

1 lb ground beef
1 small onion
2 carrots
1 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
Egg roll wrappers
Vegetable oil (for frying)
